A trustful and secure handling of your personal data is very important to us.

For that reason, we adhere strictly to the data protection laws BDSG and EU-DSGVO. These regulations protect personal data better than ever. We welcome this and take all measures to ensure that the services we offer are in accordance with these to the best of our knowledge and belief.

This statement provides a simplistic overview of what personal data we collect, how we use it, how we protect it and when we delete it. Personal data is any data that personally identifies you.

This privacy policy applies to the iOS and Android App Maphi as well as to the websites hosted by Edutapps GmbH under the domains and associated subdomains:

3. Rights

The General Data Protection Regulation GDPR grants European users a number of rights. You may contact us under the address us under the address named in the privacy policy.

4 Collected Data

4.1 Login

The login on our websites and in our apps can be done either via Edutapps (using email + password), or via the following third party providers:

  • Google
  • Facebook
  • instagram
  • Authentication takes place via OAuth2.

When logging in via the third-party providers, we only request the most basic data necessary for the identification of the user. The collected data is stored in an appropriately protected manner and is only used to identify the user and offer our services, such as saving progress on our servers.

4.2 Contact requests

If you contact us via e-mail, telephone or the contact function on the website, your enquiry, including the personal data resulting from it (name, telephone number, enquiry...) will be stored and processed for the purpose of processing. We will store this data until you request us to delete it, revoke your consent to store it, or the purpose of the data storage no longer applies. We do not pass on this data without your consent.

4.3 Newsletter

If you register for the newsletter on our website, your e-mail address, the IP address used for registration and confirmation of the data protection conditions and the respective access times will be stored in order to be able to deliver the newsletter to you and to comply with the information obligations of the DSGVO.

In order to analyse and plan our newsletter campaigns, we rely on so-called web-beacon. These allow us to determine whether an e-mail has been opened and whether a link contained in it has been clicked. In addition, technical information such as the time of retrieval, anonymous IP address, browser type and operating system are recorded. The recorded data is only used to optimize our newsletter campaigns.

You can object to the collection of this data at any time and delete your data by unsubscribing from the newsletter.

4.4 Links

If you use external links contained in our websites, this privacy statement does not extend to the target of those links. We endeavour to ensure that the providers of the linked sites also comply with the data protection standards, but have no direct influence on the content and compliance with this data protection declaration. Please refer to the privacy policies of the respective third party for more information.

4.5 Cookies

Our website uses cookies to improve the user experience. A cookie is a file that is stored on your device and transmitted to our services with each request to track usage across multiple sessions.

We use cookies, for for purposes like saving the set language, saving the opt-out choice in the event of an objection to the data recording, or savin the login status. We do not use it to store personal data, such as the user's name.

4.6 Server logs

Both our apps and our websites access backend servers.

In order to provide our services, optimize the infrastructure and optimize system security, accesses are recorded and temporarily logged in log files. The data is used exclusively to provide the service, to optimise the infrastructure and to ensure system security. IP addresses are only evaluated in the event of attacks on the infrastructure. Recorded data is stored for up to one month.

The logged data includes:

  • the requested URL
  • the amount of data transferred
  • the IP address of the requesting device
  • the time of access
  • the browser / operating system used

4.7 Analytics

To improve our offerings, it is absolutely necessary to understand the behavior of users within our apps. To achieve this, we use analysis tools both on our websites and in the apps.

We do NOT collect any personal data, but only anonymous data and usage data, such as the set language, the duration of use and the interaction with user elements within the app.

4.7.1 Matomo

Our services use the web analysis service Matomo (formerly Piwik). Matomo sends usage information, including an anonymous IP address, to our server, where we store the data and process it to optimize our services. We have disabled all recording and processing of personal data.

4.7.2 Maphi Analytics

Our services use the self-developed web analysis service "Maphi Analytics". Maphi Analytics works similar to Matomo, but is a proprietary development and allows us better control over the collected data.

Maphi Analytics sends usage information, including an anonymous IP address, to our server, where we store the data and process it to optimize our services. We have disabled all recording and processing of personal data.

4.7.3 Google Analytics

We work with the market standard Google Analytics for the collection and analysis of usage data. The data is used by us exclusively to improve Maphi. All personal data is anonymized directly. More specific functions for recording personal data (demographics, user IDs, replicating client IDs across devices, remarketing features, ... ) are disabled.

5 Disclosure of data

Our IT infrastructure is completely maintained in Germany and we do not transfer any personal data to countries outside the Germany. However, personal data collected by third-party providers (e.g. Apple, Google) may be transferred to other countries.

Edutapps GmbH relies on selected external service providers to provide its services for the purpose of fulfilling the contract with our potential and existing customers (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b DSGVO) and in the interest of a secure, fast and efficient provision of our online services by a professional provider (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO). For example, our servers are hosted externally and the data recorded by us is thus stored on the servers of the corresponding service provider. Our apps are distributed via Google's Playstore and Apple's Appstore.

In order to guarantee the protection of your data nevertheless, the service providers are obligated to protect the data of our users and not to pass it on to third parties via order data processing contracts. We are currently working with the following providers:
